Update to our Privacy Policy

We’re updating our Privacy Policy to reflect improvements we’ve made to Twitter. We encourage you to read the updated policy in full — by using our services on or after June 18, 2017, you’ll be agreeing to these revisions. Here are some of the important updates:

Transparency and control: We’ve launched new Personalization and Data settings and expanded Your Twitter Data to give you more transparent access to your information and more granular controls over how your data is used by Twitter. These enhanced settings will replace Twitter’s reliance on the Do Not Track browser setting, which we will no longer support.

Web data: We’ve updated how we store and use data from other websites that integrate Twitter content like embedded timelines, to improve our services and personalize the content we show you including ads. We do not store web page visit data for users who are in the European Union and EFTA States.

Data sharing: We’ve updated how we share non-personal, aggregated, and device-level data, including under select partnership agreements that allow the data to be linked to your name, email, or other personal information if you give the partner your consent. You can control whether your data is shared under these partnership agreements in your Personalization and Data settings.

Personalization across your devices: We’ve explained how we use data to personalize across your devices, and given you additional control in your Personalization and Data settings for devices that you haven’t used to log into Twitter.

Privacy Shield and the Digital Advertising Alliance: We’re excited to announce that we will be participating in the Swiss-US Privacy Shield program and adhering to the Digital Advertising Alliance Self-Regulatory Principles for Online Behavioral Advertising.

Update to our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy
As we continue to improve Twitter's products and features, we've also been working on improving our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

Our Terms of Service are now easier to read and better organized, which should help users worldwide.
Our Privacy Policy has been updated to include a section on the EU-US Privacy Shield program.
In addition, we've updated and clarified how various services have changed over time.
For example, we've included adding additional information on non-public communications, using multiple accounts, logged out access, and our advertising services.

We've updated our Terms of Service (https://twitter.com/tos) and Privacy Policy (https://twitter.com/privacy) to reflect new features we're testing (starting in the U.S.) to allow you to buy merchandise from some of the most popular names on Twitter, without leaving the Twitter experience.

The Terms of Service update introduces terms covering the use of our commerce offerings. The new terms also describe your relationship with merchandise sellers, including their responsibility for order fulfillment, shipping and returns.

And since you'll need to provide certain information to make a purchase, such as a credit card number and shipping address, the Privacy Policy update includes new sections on that information. You'll also see provisions relating to commerce services that we'll be testing in the future, like special offers you can redeem at select stores using your credit card.

We've also updated the Privacy Policy to clarify how other parts of our services work, including:

That we may request additional account information to help us prevent spam, fraud or abuse.
The broad audiences that receive public user profile information and public Tweets, including search engines, developers and publishers.
The types of non-private or non-personal information that is shared with others, including reports to advertisers about the performance of their advertising campaigns.
How we collect certain types of information, including location information (such as through IP address or nearby access points), and information when you install another application through Twitter.
That we may share data with our corporate affiliates consistent with our respective privacy policies, for example, if you use your Twitter credentials to login to Vine, our short looping video service, or to provide better ads through MoPub, our mobile-focused advertising exchange.
